Hours: 24/7

The Schimke Ranch was established in 1906, and has always been a working cow/calf operation. Currently I am producing Simmental, Angus, and SimAngus cattle on this operation. Since quarter horses are used on the Schimke Ranch for all of the cattle work, cow sense, good minds, and stability are a must have. I barrel race and rodeo when I am not working on the ranch, so therefore have found, along with a great number of other rodeo athletes and barrel racers, that the horses bred to be outstanding ranch horses will also excel in the arena. Be it roping or barrel racing, the horses I am raising here have what it takes to get the job done. In mixing the speed and cow bloodlines, I feel that I am getting the best of both worlds in my quarter horses. I stand quality Quarter Horse stallions for your barrel racing and cow horse needs. I also offer speed and cow bred quarter horses for sale including mares, foals, and geldings. Be sure to check out the web site for further information.

Specialization: Breeding; Sales; Performance; Other: Working cattle operation
Facilities: Barn; Pasture;
Horse Breed Specialization: Quarter Horse;
Additional Special Information: Standing At Stud: I stand 3 stallions that have all done their share on the ranch and in the arena both. My senior stallion, Oh Magnolia, is an example of a proven producer. Be sure to check out the stallions on the website.

I have a modest training facility in Owatonna, MN. I train the horses myself and take a limited number of horses. I have a small indoor arena for starting the horses and for inclement weather. We recently added on a new stable area and now the stalls are in the same building as the arena. I do take in temporary boarding for times like vacations, transitions between other boarding facilities, respite care, and overnight travelers. All the horses are treated with great personal care, stalled during the night and turned out during the day. I've had many happy costomers and will gladly provide references. I am also the farrier for the farm, specializing in the shoeing and trimming the family horse. Check out my website at www.somersetfarms.us

I give very individual care to each horse, I train only 4 horses at a time and only train from April to November, so space is quite limited. This is a large privately owned park consisting of @640 acres adjacent to several thousand acres of public water management land. There are limitless miles of trails in and around the park. They draw 300-400 horses for each of their rides. We have quite a few individuals coming to the park just about every weekend to camp and trail ride. It is an excellent place to bring the family as well. There is a canoe outpost, minature golf, country store, swimming pool, music hall (seats 700), picnic shelters, wood carver on site,lake and river fishing, several music events during the course of the year, nearby golf course etc. Check out the web site for details of the annual events plus lots of pictures of the park.
